Partnership News

Did You Know...

Henry Ford established his final Village Industry Project in Canton with a unique purpose: to support disabled World War II veterans.  While other Village Industry Projects employed off-season farmers, the Ford Cherry Hill Plant provided housing, training and rehabilitation for returning soldiers.

History Repeats itself...

Just as Henry Ford's original Village Industry Project in Canton supported returning WWII soldiers, the Partnership will carry on the tradition of the property by offering art therapy and healing programs to local veterans in the refurbished dormitory building at the Village Arts Factory.  We're honored to serve those who have given much.

"Life is an Adventure..."  Gerald Dodson

Gerald Dodson's life has been just that; after serving his country in 2 wars, working for the Defense Department for 30 years, and serving as the Director of the Armed Forces Radio Network, this American believes "that when you do good in the world, the good will come back to you."

Dodson returned from Vietnam in 1968 with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  Art therapy helped him deal with the effects PTSD, and he still utilizes those skills 40 years later.   "Art helps us to work together, and it teaches us to help one another.  Art brings joy to our world," says Dodson.

The Partnership looks forward to serving veterans like Gerald with art therapy at the Village Arts Factory.  To all veterans, thank you!
