2015 is already off to a great start for our family and The Street Revolution! On January 1st, we had the honor of receiving our first volunteers of the year, Justin and Jenna Bakken! Their desire is to serve with us in The Street Revolution for 3 months and make a deep impact on the streets of Guatemala and the children living in high risk situations in the market of the bus terminal. We have already seen a lot of fruit coming from their efforts with us and we are anticipating that over the next couple of months we will see much, much more!
This past week, we also had the honor of hosting our first group of the year! They are a group of students from the Bridge Street House of Prayer who are in Guatemala serving on a 2 month long outreach! Their desire was to help us kick off our 2015 Bible Clubs with the children in the Bus Terminal while also helping us with our weekly Bible Study with the men of Teen Challenge. With the children, the team taught on the story of the prodigal son. This is a very, very good story for many of these little ones to hear and to understand as many of them daily struggle with the temptation to leave home and search for "a better life." After the team finished with the story, David shared with the children about the consequences of such decisions, thus helping them to realize that running off to the streets is only going to lead to more pain and struggle. The team then concluded by focusing on the forgiving Father, who will never give up on us, nor ever turn us away..no matter the mistakes we have made.
At Teen Challenge, the several members of the team shared testimonies of how God has taken them through tough times and then another member of the team shared on the power of the cross and how through the cross, we have been completely restored into a right relationship with the Father.
As the day with the team came to an end, we gave praise to God for all that He did through us. So many lives were touched by the love of a Father who awaits us with open arms and it was an honor that we got to be a part of what He is doing in Guatemala!
