Shining His Light in Guatemala....
"So don’t hide your light! Let it shine brightly before others, so that the commendable things you do will shine as light upon them, and then they will give their praise to your Father in heaven.”
Matt 5:16 TPT

Greetings once again from the land of Eternal Spring! As many of you deal with the heat of summer, we continue to enjoy our year round spring like weather here in Antigua, Guatemala! God has been so good to us over the last month since our last update. My prayer is that as you read this little news flash, that you will also be inspired to not only get involved with our work here (prayer, finances, emotional support), but to take a few steps outside your own doors and shine His light the best way you know!

Teams Continue to Come Serving and Inspire Us
Since our last news report, we have had the honor of helping out with 3 different teams that have come to serve the people of Guatemala. Of those 3 teams, 2 have had a medical focus as we hosted a rather large “Eye Clinic” team as well as another group that yearly brings a medical clinic to the base. Normally, Juli is the one that gets to help with the medical clinic due to her incredible translation skills, however, this year she was sick for most of the week meaning that I got to be the one who helped out. Little did I know that this was going to be a “God ordained” week when it all began, but as the week came to a close, it was very clear that He had a purpose for me to get involved this time.
As I served with the nurses as their translator, I noticed a common theme amongst the children who were coming to visit the doctor.  At least 3 out of 4 children had symptoms of malnutrition, which often led to them having the health problems they were seeking help for. This got me to thinking about our kids club and asking the question if there was more that we could do that would not only help these children spiritually, but physically as well. The bottom line with malnutrition is that it affects a child’s ability to develop and if left unattended, could hold them back from their God given potential.  Thus, as of 2 weeks ago, in an effort to respond to this need, we have begun cooking a small and healthy meal for the children who come to our weekly kid’s club. So far, it has been a delicious and loaded with veggies children soup. But the desire is to see the meal develop more and more into other kinds of dishes that the children can sit down with us and enjoy. We would love to invite to pray with us about the development of this part of the children’s ministry. We would also like to invite you to consider supporting this weekly meal. So far, we have been able to make soup for about 20-25 children for just over $5 a week. As we continue to develop this meal, the cost will increase to an estimated $10/week. (1 meal time a week). If you would like to help out with this meal, please send us an email to

Inspiring a Man on Bible Distribution
Another ministry that we get to serve in weekly on our base is the Bible Distribution program where we go house to house in different towns around Antigua to offer a free Bible for those who do not have one already. This normally leads to deep conversations about Jesus and many times has led to us praying for those we are visiting. This week we got to visit a man named Victor, a local carpenter. At first, he hesitated when we saw us, but once he realized that we were Christians, he quickly invited us in to chat with him and pray with him. Turns out he had been praying for a new Bible as he loved to go to the streets to evangelize and preach the gospel in his community. His old Bible was quite worn out and really was in need of replacement. He also happens to lead a Bible study with several teens in the area and was very interested in knowing how he could buy Bibles for each of his teens to have. We are currently helping him fulfill this need. Our time closed with prayer in which we got to bless his home and family, his ministry, as well as he business. I am always amazed at how God works in us and through us. Today, we were actually supposed to go a different direction to a different part of town, but for some reason, we ended up on this man’s street and knocking on his door. Only the Holy Spirit can do something like this where someone has a need that we actually have the means to fulfill and then bring us together when we actually had other plans.

DTS 2019 Preparations Have Begun!
We are still 6 months away from the launch of our next Discipleship Training School (DTS), but this past week we officially began the process of preparing for the school. We are very excited about what God is wanting to do in us and through us as we prepare for this life changing school. It looks like we will have a 6 member staff team available to serve the students, something we have been praying for all year. We also already have one students complete and another one in process and on the way.  For those who do not know, the DTS is a 5 month training school where students come to develop a deeper relationship with God as well as learning to express His love to the world. It is not just another missions training school exclusive only to those interested in missions. Rather, it is a school designed to challenge the student to deepen their intimacy with Him and learn to shine His light in whatever setting that God places the student in (professional & missions). Please pray for us as we begin preparations as well as begin promoting the school to the local church as well as the international body. Our DTS is bilingual and multinational which creates and interesting dynamic when it comes to recruiting students. If you are interested in knowing more about the school or know of someone who might be interested, please email us at

Thank You!
In closing, we just want to express our thanks again for your faithful support of our work in Guatemala!
