Restoration, Renewal, Rebirth

"Yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary." Isaiah 40:31

Greetings from a wintery cold day in North Houston! As I write this first news report of 2018, we are awaiting our 2nd, yes our 2nd snow of this current trip! Before this trip, I had not seen snow in almost 20 years and within the last few months, I will have seen it happen twice! For those up north, I am sure this is no big deal, but to us from the south, this is an absolute miracle! (not to mention that the boys prayed all of 2017 that they would see snow!)

Report on My Dad
We would like to first thank everyone for your prayers over these last few months. As it stands today, my dad is doing very, very well and is currently phasing out of his therapy sessions and beginning to make a transition to soon begin working on a part time basis. We are very thrilled by his progress and have seen the hand of God do some incredible miracle in his life to bring him to this place where he will soon work again!  So thank you for your prayers!

Return to Antigua is Coming!
Because of dad’s progress, we are thrilled to announce that we are officially returning to Guatemala on February 11th! We found an incredible deal for plane tickets and cannot wait to return to the warmth of our home in Guatemala! Because we are heading back next month, we are currently meeting with friends and supporters, sharing about all that God did in 2017 while also sharing about our vision for 2018! If you would like to visit with us, please send me an email to david@djministries.net

Vision for 2018
We are believing that 2018 is going to be a year of “restoration, renewal, and rebirth.” Because we will not be running a Discipleship Training School until August, we will be spending a good portion of this year serving in the development of the various ministries of the base as well as supporting the base leadership team as YWAM Antigua continues to establish itself as a Guatemalan based organization. The base has run into a few hang-ups with the government with this process, but we believe that soon we will officially become a legal Guatemalan nonprofit organization. We ask for prayer for favor as we work through this process.

Throughout the 1st 6 months of the year, we will be working to deepen relationships with Guatemalan churches throughout the country, while also promoting the DTS program and the August school! Our heart is to see more Guatemalans take the leap of faith and go on this incredible adventure with God! For many, the cost of the school may seem overwhelming (we already give a significant discount), but for those who have done the school, we have never seen a case where God did not do something supernatural to provide for their needs. Again, we ask for prayer during this first half of this year that we can have open doors to connect with church leaders as well as their youth.

From mid June till late July, we will also be traveling to the YWAM base in Juarez, Mexico to attend a Leadership Development Course. We have longed for years to do another YWAM school and when the opportunity was presented to us last year, we knew that God was challenging us to trust Him and go for it! We are very excited about this school as it will be the first YWAM school that Juli and I have done together. And to make this opportunity even better, the kids will also go through their own program and be ministered to as well! We want to ask for prayer as we are needing to not only raise $2300 for the tuition / housing but also will need to raise the needed funding for airfare to get there!

In early August, we will be launching our next Discipleship Training School! We already have several applications in and we are also receiving a lot of inquiries asking for information. We believe that this year’s school will be a special school while also serving as an incredible opportunity for us immediately put into practice the principles that God is going to show us during the Leadership Course!

Throughout November and December, we will be closing the year by leading the students of the Discipleship Training School as they go on their 2 month outreach. At this moment, we do not have a confirmed outreach location, however we are asking for prayers for wisdom and discernment as we will be meeting with our DTS staff in March to begin looking into the specifics of this outreach.

In closing…
We believe that we are set for an incredible year. Of course, we would not be in this place had it not been for you….our prayers warriors, our mentors, our financial supporters, and most of all, our family and friends. You are all a huge part of our team that makes all this happen! In 2018, there will be many opportunities for you to participate in our ministry, either through prayer, financial support, or even visiting us on site in Guatemala! If you would like more information on any of these opportunities, please get in touch with us!
Many Blessings!
