Greetings from the beautiful town of Antigua, Guatemala! This past weekend, we finally completed our move to our new home just outside of Antigua and this week we officially began as full time staff at YWAM Antigua! We are very excited about this new adventure that we are beginning today and want to begin this news report by thanking everyone for all the encouraging words and prayers during this challenging time of transition. The last several weeks have been quite challenging for us as we have not only dealt with the emotional pain of letting go of The Street Revolution (our ministry that we spent years developing), but also have dealt with the physical challenges of moving things to our new home, as well as many health challenges that our little Ariela has had to face. In no doubt, we are seeing quick answers to your prayers and now we celebrate the beginning of this new chapter of our lives and our ministry! So thank you so much for praying and thank you for all the encouraging words that you have sent us.
Going After the Mountains
One of the big reasons that we felt God call us back into to YWAM was so that we could once again start working with and training young people. A year ago, David wrote about a vision that God had given him about the 7 Mind Molding Mountains of Influence and how it can affect a nation. It was not long after this vision, that God began to speak to him about the life of Daniel and how he was able to impact the nation of Babylon through his influence that he had by just being near the King and his officials (“the government mountain”). In the beginning of the story, Daniel is just an average young man who knew who he was, knew who his God was, and understood the eternal impact he could have by simply living out Kingdom values / principles in whatever place that he was in. The story ends with him and his friends being promoted up the government mountain and serving next to the King, who ends up on his own knees before the Lord!
We often look at missions as simply going out to the streets and telling everyone who will listen about repentance and the great news of Jesus Christ, but Daniel did not do that. Rather, he just knew who he was, knew who his God was, and lived out Kingdom principles as a normal way of living. Inspired by the life of Daniel, we believe that the key to the future of any nation lies within the youth of today. Sadly, the enemy has worked hard at destroying today’s youth by not only throwing at them all kinds of confusion and rejection, but also stealing their God given identities. Thus, we have young generation wandering around today who not only have no idea who they are, but really have no idea who God really is. They are a generation moving from place to place, desperately looking for their lost identity and their very own eternal purpose.
Thus, a big part of our return to YWAM is going to focus on working with the young people of this nation as well as youth from nations around the world and helping them to realize that they too can be like Daniel. We believe that once the youth of today can grab a hold of the greatness that they are capable of, that revival will soon follow them as they climb the 7 Mountains and influence / restore them once again with Kingdom principles.
Other Ministries We Will Be Involved In
Along with helping out in the area of training schools, we will also be serving in the various of the ministries of the base that reach out to mothers as well as children. Juli will be pouring into the mothers ministry that is currently working with over 50 mothers from the community the base has been planted. This is something that she has always been passionate about and she is extremely excited to see how God can use her in this area of ministry. David will also be involved in several of the children's ministries that the base has established that includes Bible Clubs with the children of the local community as well as a Bible Club in a school for children with disabilities. David will also be participating in the weekly homeless ministry as well as the Bible Distribution ministry that is designed to get a Bible in every home in Guatemala.
We want to invite everyone to continue praying for us as we continue adjusting to our new ministry and new life in Antigua, Guatemala. We also want to invite everyone to continue praying for our financial situation, that His provision will continue to come in to help us meet our new financial obligations that this change has brought us.
