LITECAR Challenge Winners Announced!

This past January, ARPA-E teamed up with Local Motors to present the LIghtweighting Technologies Enabling Comprehensive Automotive Redesign (LITECAR) Challenge, which sought innovative conceptual designs to lightweight a vehicle while maintaining or exceeding current U.S. automotive safety standards. With more than 250 conceptual designs submitted, the winners of the LITECAR challenge were announced on Monday, April 20, 2015.

New ARPA-E Staff

ARPA-E recently welcomed two new staff members: 

                    
 
Dr. Ron Faibish is Senior Advisor at ARPA-E. In this role he advises the Director on policy, technology, and strategic planning. He also works closely with ARPA-E’s senior managers, external stakeholders, and senior management at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). 
 
                   

Emily Fritze currently serves as Special Advisor to the Director at ARPA-E. In this role she is responsible for managing the Director’s external engagement, strategic operations, public policy outreach, and special projects.

6 Years of Changing What's Possible

Today, ARPA-E celebrates its sixth birthday! Since its creation on April 27, 2009, ARPA-E has invested approximately $1.1 billion across more than 400 projects through 23 focused programs and two open funding solicitations (OPEN 2009 and OPEN 2012).

Powertrain Innovations for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles Workshop:
This workshop will be held May 14-15, 2015 in Denver, Colorado and will convene experts from a number of fields to consider the development of future high efficiency light-duty vehicle powertrains for connected, semi-autonomous and fully autonomous (driverless) vehicles. Optical Interconnects & Data Center Efficiency Workshop:
