Mayor Bloomberg to Deliver Summit Keynote

ARPA-E announced today that New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg will deliver a keynote address at the 2013 ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit.

In 2007, Mayor Bloomberg released PlaNYC, a comprehensive plan to create a greener, greater New York by 2030 while accommodating one million more New Yorkers. The City has committed $1.5 billion for green infrastructure since 2007 and Citywide greenhouse gas emissions have dropped 12% in the past five years.

Mayor Bloomberg was elected Chair of the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, a network of major cities around the world committed to reducing carbon emissions and slowing climate change. He has called for global action on climate change and addressed the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Bali, Indonesia in 2007.

Preparing and Conducting Effective Negotiations

Successfully developing and taking new technologies to market requires ongoing negotiation with both colleagues and external parties. Success rests on preparing systematically, negotiating strategically, and reviewing consistently. It also requires a shift from measuring success as getting as close to one’s position as possible to creating optimal value for both parties.

During the next ARPA-E University event, Preparing and Conducting Effective NegotiationsJeff Weiss with Vantage Partners will share a set of methods—road tested and refined over 30 years of research and applied work with the world’s leading companies—for effectively engaging in each of these activities.
