Plenary Indulgence:
On this important anniversary Pope Benedict XVI granted a Plenary Indulgence to all Order of Malta members and volunteers who took part in the liturgical celebrations, as well as those unable to attend. This was announced by Cardinal Bertone during the solemn mass on 9th February.
This document set the legal base for the Order of St. John, and was a fundamental element in its development. It is this Solemn Priviledge that officially recognised the monastic community of the Hospitallers of St. John, and gave it its sovereign and independent status. More
