Kakrona's Story

"Conventional wisdom suggests that orphaned kids should perform worse than the national averages," says Asia's Hope executive director John McCollum. "But our kids are performing better. Much better. In Cambodia and among Thailand's hill tribes, where our kids come from, fewer than 12 percent of kids finish high school, and less than 2 percent graduate from college. But our kids have not only beaten the odds and bested the national averages, they’ve greatly exceeded even our high expectations.

"A full 87 percent of Asia’s Hope students, for instance, are on track to graduate high school, and the vast majority of them have indicated plans to attend university! Among Asia’s Hope kids, we’re covering 74 college scholarships this year alone. And that number is rising every year."

Asia's Hope, a cooperating ministry of the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches works in Cambodia, Thailand and India to provide quality long-term care for orphaned children at high risk of sexual and economic exploitation. And God is using the ministry in big ways. Click the picture below to view a short video telling the story of a young man named Kakrona and how Asia's Hope enabled him to pursue his dreams and escape the cycle of poverty.

"It takes years of intentional living to develop intimacy with your spouse. It's smart to start with the end goal in mind (which in this case is to have a healthy and God glorifying marriage). Therefore, my wife and I have made concrete and definitive steps to grow in our relationship with each other."

With Valentine's Day approaching,
Dan Cosentino, youth pastor at Grace Community Church in Goshen, Ind. (Jim Brown, pastor), shares his thoughts on how to cultivate intimacy in marriage. Click here to read.

"Christians must learn to embrace their God-given identity, the heavenly view, described in [Ephesians], rather than believing the bad press."

Tim Sprankle, pastor at
Leesburg Grace, a Grace Brethren church in Leesburg, Ind., recently preached a sermon from Ephesians, encouraging Christians to see the church as God sees it: "powerful (not powerless), mysterious (not boring), beautiful (not gross), holy (not stained), universal (not exclusive), triumphant (not dying), and relevant (not outdated)."
