Partnering in Prayer

“God works when His people pray,” said Timothy “TK” Kurtaneck, director of church relations and youth leadership training at CE National in Winona Lake, Ind. “You have not because you ask not.”

At CE, a Wednesday morning prayer meeting has become a time to pray for revival in the community, a time to pray for outreach programs, a time to pray for those who do not know Christ to come to faith in Him, and to pray for those who have backslidden in faith to return back to Him.

TK notes that it is not just a time for people to drink coffee, submit prayer requests, and then chat before attending to that day’s agenda.

The Wednesday morning prayer meetings began approximately one year ago as a group of retired individuals would meet and pray for an hour. Now, six to 10 people attend each week. Of these, one of the most faithful is Bobbette Ridenour.

“It is a wonderful time of prayer and to stop and think about world issues,” said Ridenour, a regular Wednesday morning prayer meeting attendee. “It is a good time to share and get to know people and their needs.”

Ridenour worked at CE for 20 years as the organization’s first full time secretary beginning in 1956. While it has been nearly 40 years since she was an employee, she was eager to participate. “My heart has always been with CE National,” she said. “I look forward to it weekly.”

The Wednesday morning prayer meetings are held on CE Winona Lake, Ind., campus in the Russell Center, beginning at 8 a.m. All are welcome to attend.

[Your Turn]

"Picture the universal church as an arrow. God shoots His church into a lost world to pierce the darkness & make disciples of Jesus. There are different parts to the arrow. SEEDnet is an arrowhead ministry...

"We intentionally go to the most lost, most forgotten, most oppressed, most marginalized & most dangerous people and places- and we give them Jesus!... Many times we pass over people who could fit in more traditional churches to find the lost souls that don’t fit anywhere! This is what God has called us and equipped us to do."

SEEDNet's Nathan wells recently shared an excellent analogy of different types of churches and church planting ministries and how SEEDNet fits into it all. Click here to read the rest of the post.

Last weekend, the Kalahari Winter Youth Retreat wrapped up  in Sandusky, Ohio.  This year, over 2,000 students and 300 youth workers had the chance to listen to nationally-known speakers and spend time at the retreat center's extensive water park. Check out their Instagram page for pictures from the event.

"Depression, grief and addiction are likely to affect us all in some way. Maybe we battle it ourselves or someone we know and love is struggling. Often dealing with these difficulties is like driving through the fog. We can't always predict when these seasons or trials will hit us. We can only hold out hope that they will be over quickly and that we handle them in a healthy way."

Bart Blair, lead pastor of
Grasslands Church in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, shares part one of a 4-part series called Seeing through the Fog: Finding Hope through Life's Difficult Times. Click below to watch the sermon, Keep Looking Up.
