Adult Book Club

Come for our Adult Book Club which has lively discussions on a variety of genres. This month   we are reading           Gray Mountain by   John Grisham about a downsized NYC lawyer who becomes a lawyer at a legal aid clinic in Virginia. Books are available at the front desk or we can order a copy if needed.

YA/Adult Craft

Have delicious fun working on a sweet Valentine craft. All supplies are included; there is no fee for this program.
 
Adult Coffee, Snacks, and Coloring

Combine the three and you have the beginnings of a great social evening! Bring your own coloring  book and medium or use our colored pencils and coloring pages. Other dates include April 7th.

This month we are reading What She Left Behind  by Ellen Martin Wiseman about a teenage girl in the foster system who helps her foster parents clean and catalog items from a long-shuttered state asylum. How Full is Your Filing Cabinet?       Wednesday, April 27
1:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M.      Sasha Grabenstetter from the U of I Extension Office brings us a program during Money Smart Week. This program helps you to know when you can get rid of those documents that you have kept forever and other helpful hints to help you clean out your filing cabinet.

Introduction to Excel

Using a spreadsheet can be very helpful but creating one might be a problem. Learn how to use the Excel program. You must attend both nights. This class is geared for adults.

Want to learn how to put together a spiffy presentation? Check out our PowerPoint class and learn how to add great graphics to your text to make a slide show standout.
 
 
Special Events

       Stomping with         the Dinosaurs
Tuesday, February 16
6:30 P.M. - 7:30 P.M.
Come over to the library as Miss Karen and        Miss Janet lead us on a fun night reading stories, making crafts,and learning how to dance             like dinosaurs.          This program is for children in pre-school through 2nd grade.


Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Party

The Friends of the Limestone Township Library District present      “Happy Birthday,                 Dr. Seuss”              Join us for an afternoon filled with stories, Seuss  games, make a take home craft and  enjoy a special treat!  A family event!  


Lowe's Build and Grow Clinic

Join Lowe's and the library in celebrating National Craft Month. Lowe's will be at the library to conduct a        Build and Grow Clinic for kids in Kindergarten and up. All supplies are included. Sign up soon as possible, space is limited.

The Lorax Project
      Saturday, April 16              1:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M.         Come out to our     Earth Day Celebration.   Learn about the Lorax and the value of trees to our community. We will be making a special project from tree products and, of course, make our own trufulla tree and eat trufulla fruit!
 
It's spring break and we are having a good time at the Library. Come join us for some fun activities!

School’s Out Movie Day

      No school today?          Then come on down            to the library with             your friends and              watch a fun movie.              This afternoon                 we are watching:               Alvin and the                   Chipmunks:           The Road Chip
   Popcorn and lemonade will be served.
 
Have you considered volunteering for your community by joining the Friends of the Limestone Library?  Meetings occur quarterly and you get to help out on fun activities such as the Dr. Seuss Birthday Party. The next meeting is Tuesday, February 2 at 6:30 P.M.
Beginning Chess
Wednesday, February 24
6:30 P.M. – 7:30 P.M.
A very beginning class about the game of Chess. If you have never played Chess
this class is for you. Spaces are limited. Please bring a chess board.
For kids in 5th through  8th grade.                   The program also meets on March 23 and April 27.

Activities for kids in Kindergarten  and Up

Storytime
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 A.M.
Storytime returns from its winter break on Tuesday, February 2nd. Storytime is a mix of crafts, stories, and music to help young children develop a love for reading. Parents and guardians can bring their 6-months to five-year-old children.

 
 Tiny Explorers  Tuesday, February 16,   & Thursday, February 18   10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. Parents and Guardians come along with their children 6 months to 5 years old for a time to play and build using  age-appropriate manipulatives. It is a great time of socialization and play. Other dates are March 15 and 17, April 19 & April 21, 
Activities for kids in Kindergarten  and Up

Lego Building

Saturday, January 30
1:00 P.M.
Our Lego building blocks and your creativity can only add up to lots of fun at the library. Join us and other Lego enthusiasts for an afternoon of building fun. For children in Kindergarten through                    5th grade.           Other dates for      Lego Building are:                February 6,              February 20,                   March 19,                   March 27,                        April 2,                      April 23,                      April 30,              and May 7.

Heart Art
Saturday, February 13
1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M.
Join us as we make various objects using hearts.  All supplies are included and there is no fee. This program is for children in kindergarten and up.

Generational Craft 
Thursday, May 5 6:30 P.M.-7:30 P.M Celebrate Mother’s Day by attending a fun craft activity together. The project will be decorating treasure boxes.
 
Have you tried a  Play-A-Way book? The M3P player allows you to listen to   a book while you           are walking or      running errands.   Ask about them at  the Front Desk!

Red Cross Fire Prevention Workshops


Fire Prevention Workshop
Tuesday, April 8
6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.
 Justin Larson, Americorp/American Red Cross representative will teach us how to be prepared in case of fire in the home.  Hands-on-fire prevention activities to reduce hazards                   in the home,       identify fire safety                equipment,      learn emergency        recognition steps         and plan for the      possibility of a fire         will be included.         Families please            bring children      2nd grade and up to this event. 
 
 
Pillowcase Project
Saturday, April 10
1:00 P.M. – 2:30 P.M.
Justin Larson, Americorp/American Red Cross representative, presents a workshop that teaches  children the understanding of science  hazards, practicing how to prepare for emergencies, and understand that by sharing what they have learned with family and friends, they can help create a prepared community. Pillowcases will be decorated to take home and use to pack their emergency items.
