UPDATE: APD makes arrest in shooting near University of Texas

Update: One person has been arrested in connection with the shooting near the University of Texas on Sunday, September 11, 2016. He has been identified as Daniel Hamilton Magee, white male, 18 years of age. He is not a student at the University of Texas. He has been charged with Aggravated Assault and is currently in custody in the Travis County Jail. Three other people were taken into custody but have not been arrested or charged with anything at this time. Assistant Chief Troy Gay will be available for interviews today at 1:30 p.m. at APD Headquarters. Please call APD PIO if you plan to attend.
Initial Release:
On September 11, 2016 around 3 a.m., Officers responded to 2701 Neches for a report of a shooting. The initial investigation shows that an individual was asked to leave a party that was taking place at the above address. The individual returned to the party which led to an altercation and a security guard was shot. The guard was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect(s) were not located at or near the scene, and no arrests have been made at this time.
Based on the initial investigation, it appears this was an isolated incident and there is no reason to believe there is any further threat to the public.
