Flooding Assistance Center will close, call 3-1-1 for flood recovery information

Shelter at Dittmar Recreation Center to remain open

The Austin/Travis County Flood Assistance Center, located at the Dove Springs Recreation Center, will conclude operations Saturday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m.

Those in Austin/Travis County affected by recent flooding can still receive information and referrals by contacting 3-1-1, or 512-974-2000.

Information on permits for repairing flood damage can be obtained at the Permit Center at One Texas Center (505 Barton Springs Road). Those affected should identify as a flood victim to get priority service. All permit fees have been waived for those affected by flooding.

For information about buyouts in the Onion Creek area, homeowners may leave a message for staff on the Floodplain Hotline at 512-974-2843, and a staff member will return their call.

The Dove Springs Recreation Center will revert back to normal operations and operate during normal business hours.

The Dittmar Recreation Center shelter will remain open. Currently, the shelter is hosting about 80 people and Austin/Travis County Health and Human Services case managers are assisting with finding longer term accommodations. The shelter will remain open as long as needed until other accommodations are made for all guests.

Federal, state and local officials deployed on Thursday, Nov. 11, to begin damage assessments following the 2015 Halloween Floods. The assessments will be included in reports sent to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, allowing him to make a determination to request Federal Emergency Management Agency assistance. There is no timetable for the damage assessment to be completed.
