17th Annual International Route 66 Mother Road Festival

Sept. 21-23, 2018

Over 1,000 cool cars and 80,000 spectators will roll into the heart of Springfield's historic downtown this weekend for the International Mother Road Festival - a weekend of family fun in the sun and non-stop live music and entertainment! Come celebrate the golden age of Route 66...the cars, the music, the food, the friends - all brought together along Illinois Route 66.

Be sure to visit the Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway Travel Expo tent on Washington Street, between 5th and 6th Streets on Saturday from 9am-5pm!

Dwight's premiere annual event is a great time for the whole family. Enjoy pie baking and pie eating contests, hypnosis/magician, Jr. Karaoke contest, Live Country Music, Live Dixieland Band, All Star Jam Band, Hairbanger's Ball, car show, tractor show and hours of fun at Alpine Amusements carnival. Watch the pooches on parade in the Guardian Angel Rescue Basset Waddle on Sunday. Come out on wristband days for unlimited excitement. Help save Basset Hounds and find them good homes by sponsoring a Basset Hound in the parade.

Miles of Possibility Conference
October 25-28, 2018 | Blackburn College | Carlinville, IL

Great Rivers and Routes Tourism Bureau is proud to announce the 4th Annual Miles of Possibility Route 66 Conference in Carlinville, Illinois, Thursday-Sunday, October 25-28, 2018. Additional sponsors of the event are Carlinville Tourism, Macoupin County, Blackburn College, the City of Gillespie, Blue Carpet Corridor Coalition, and Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway. 

Friday and Saturday's conference sessions, keynote speaker, and roster of presenters, plus the Friday evening banquet and band and the Saturday afternoon one-act play premiere, are all scheduled to take place at Blackburn College. The welcome to Carlinville will be given by Mayor Deanna Demuzio and the welcome to Blackburn College will be given by Interim President Jennifer Braaten, Ph.D. Brett Stawar, CEO and President of Great Rivers and Routes Tourism Bureau, will give the keynote address. 

A conference weekend package, as well as a one-day special “Essentials of Route 66 Tourism” package, are available for registration. Add-ons and single tickets for various activities are also available, and complete schedule, lodging information, and speaker bios can be found on the website.
