Firefly Bistro in S. Pasadena, Wed. Aug 6  7pm

Hello friends. After nearly two months playing music with me here on the West Coast, Luca and I'll be wrapping up our Summer Tour this week as he prepares to head back to Rome this Friday. Our first show is in South Pasadena at Brad Colerick's popular weekly music bonanza 'Wine & Song'. We're honored to get to play the night of his big Birthday Jam! Come down and enjoy great live music all night, as well as a great selection of food and wine at Firefly Bistro. Wednesday night is also taco night at this down to earth local favorite. I used to work there so I'm not just saying that, it's a great place to eat and listen to  quality music! More info and links below!

The Braj Gallery in Echo Park, Thur. Aug 7        w/ Special Guest's & Bon Voyage Party! 7-11pm

Well the time has come to send Luca Romano off back to Rome. What better way to do celebrate his stay here than to surround ourselves with music and friends! Luca will be opening the night with a special set of his original songs and musician friends are welcome to come and jam with us on our set as well. It's going to be a special intimate night where we let our hair down a bit and really rock out. The Braj Gallery is owned by dear friend Caren Braj and in my opinion it's one of the best kept secrets in the still un-hipsterfied part of Echo Park. Doors open at 7pm and we'll go until we're done!

Mataji Booker & Luca Romano

Mataji Booker, Left Coast Wine Bar, July 30

Mataji Booker writes uncomplicated song about complex things. Love, death, rebirth. Describing herself as an acoustic-folk-soul artist with jazzy tendencies, she fuses classical guitar rhythms with an innate passion for the blues, folk and soul.

In 2013 she recorded her first album 'Latitudes' with Brian Irwin (Monster Studios) in Nashville. The popular UK music blog Leicster Bangs describes her debut EP as "having a stunning mix of classical styles - it's soulful delivery refers back to the R & B stars of the 70's rather than her contemporaries."

Her unique brand of alt-folk music has taken her to Europe, Mexico, Japan and most notably she's made featured appearances on the Sky Network's popular talk show ' Stella' in Rome, Italy in 2007. While living abroad for close to one year, she met fellow musician Luca Romano. Together they began an ongoing collaboration of songwriting and  playing music together.
Luca Romano, Battery Books & Music, June 27

Italian singer-songwriter Luca Romano began playing guitar at 13 and songwriting soon followed. He gre up listening to classic American, British rock and folk bands which influenced his taste for writing songs in english. In 2007 he met Mataji Booker and began writing and playing music with her as the folk-jazz duo 'Raised by Wolves' in his hometown of Rome. For years he fronted his own band 'Just what we need', performing regularly around Italy.

In 2008 he was struck by a disorder recognized as focal dystonia which made the movements of his left hand uncontrollable. Despite this rare condition which prevented him from playing his guitar for nearly five years, he continued to write songs and started the Colibri Liberia Musica Arte, where cultural events have been produced and organized since 2009. Since then, he's followed a self-healing discipline which today allows him to play music again. His current project back in Rome is 'Rendez-vous', a folk-rock trio created in Sept. 2013.
