Summer at Neglia
Take the summer off?...Not at Neglia - we've been busier than ever!
Congrats to the 35 dedicated students who completed 5 weeks of intensive ballet training.
We were excited to engage with over 80 youth students during our Summer Intensive Programs in July.

Students concentrated on Classical Ballet - foundation, technique, pointe, choreography, but also received instruction in other styles: Modern, Jazz, and Character.
23 students (plus chaperones) traveled from Argentina to train with Neglia this summer.

In addition to spending their weekdays at Neglia's Conservatory, they had opportunities to explore Buffalo and Western New York including Niagara Falls, Canalside, Darien Lake, Bisons Game, Taste of Buffalo, Albright Knox Art Gallery and more!
We are so fortunate for the talents and time of Guest Instructors / Master Teachers:

Fidel Orrillo, Beth Bartholomew, Natalia Boesch, Seyong Kim, Eun-Kyung Chung, Vilia Putrius, Mindaugas Bauzys, Jennifer Golonka, Sherri Campagni, Michaela McNeild

THANK YOU for sharing your gifts with our students.
BOYS DANCE TOO! Was a Free workshop for boys only. Taught by Fidel Orrillo and a Neglia Alumni Rorey.
WHIRL & TWIRL! New this year, a Wednesday class for 3, 4, 5 year-olds. It was so popular, we had a waiting list! If your little one missed out, consider enrolling them in Creative Movement for September.
The International Language of the Arts!
Is a new collaboration between Buffalo String Works (music) Burchfield Penney (visual arts) and Neglia Ballet (dance) bringing together these three important art forms for 21 youth from refugee families now calling Buffalo home.
“Over the past decade, Buffalo has become a major center for resettlement in the Northeast, resettling about 12,000 refugees,” said Virginia Barron, Buffalo String Works executive director and co-founder. “Arriving in our city from widely varying cultural backgrounds, newcomer youth face daunting hurdles including learning a new language, which can be isolating at a critical stage in their development.”
Funded by the Cameron and Jane Baird Foundation, ArtsBridge! is designed as a therpeutic technique to to help harness creativity, foster new channels for its students voices and encourage them to realize their own potential. The curriculum explores elements that transcend the visual arts, music and dance at all three cultural sites.
Neglia Ballet is proud to be hosting this group of young students and dedicated facilitators for two weeks in July and August in effort for the three facites of the arts to provide a vehicle for self-development and personal expression. Culminating in a demonstration performance of art, music and dance this Friday, August 10th we are thrilled to see just how far they've come!
CITYDANCE - We're proud to once again be working with a core group of rising 3rd graders from Buffalo Public School #61 to introduce them to ballet and movement this month! Thanks in part to the Wilson Foundation we are able to fund this workshop FREE and allow these students to serve as student ambassadors and leaders to their fellow peers during the upcoming academic year when the entire 3rd grade class at BPS #61 will attend monthly ballet basics here at Neglia Ballet! In the second year of this amazing program we are seeing just how powerful ballet can be in impacting childrens lives.
