Book News and GIVEAWAY

Happy (Belated) Book Birthday to my baby, Sir Fig Newton and the Science of Persistence! I started my writing journey with the intent of publication WAY back in 2004, and it means so much that my debut middle grade novel is finally out in the world.

Though in-person book launches weren't happening at Portland, Oregon bookstores in March, I still had the best time celebrating Sir Fig Newton's release. I spent March 22nd with loved ones, stalking bookstores, and celebrating with way too much food!

First stop after brunch was the adorable Portland indie bookstore, Green Bean Books, where I was instantly greeted with Sir Fig Newton on the "new books" table.

Next, signing stock at B&N Vancouver, followed by the PAWESOME indie bookstore, Vintage Books, where Dickens, the very vocal cat, shared his appreciation for my book.

Then back to Portland to sign pre-orders and store stock at Annie Bloom's. I've never signed my name so many times in one sitting!

Last stop, Powell's Books in Cedar Hills, where once again Sir Fig Newton sat proudly on the middle readers new arrival endcap as a Staff Pick!

And the fun didn't end on my release date. The following week, I had my virtual book launch with award-winning author Ernesto Cisneros hosted by Annie Bloom's. If you weren't able to attend, watch the replay here.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to friends, family, librarians, teachers, booksellers, and YOU for making my debut a very special one that I'll never forget!

To show my appreciation, I'm giving away a signed copy to one lucky newsletter subscriber. Giveaway is US only and closes next Friday, October 7 at midnight PST. To enter, reply to this email indicating interest. Good luck!

The most amazing opportunities I've had during this incredible debut year were virtual and in-person school visits. Below is a picture with some of the fifth graders I chatted and created stories with at Witch Hazel Elementary. Write on!
