September 2020 Update
Even though we have been in varying degrees of lockdown since March, the first cases of Covid-19 in Kathmandu have caused even stricter regulations. This has definitely been one of the strangest and trying times of our ministry. We are missing in-person fellowship and worship with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are greatly anticipating the day we can meet together again. Please pray for us as we stay as busy as possible with study, schooling, camp construction, and online ministry.
I have been updating you on our assistant pastor, Akash, his fiance Sapekshya and their upcoming wedding. Praise the Lord, we were finally able to set a date! We will be having their wedding ceremony on September 6th. Only a handful of people are permitted to gather, so, unfortunately, my family will not be able to participate in this long-awaited event. I will have the opportunity to preach at the wedding and be a part of God bringing these two godly individuals together to serve Him.
We are going forward with our plans to return to the States for furlough in May of this coming year. We had considered coming early due to the pandemic but concluded it is best for our family and the ministry here to continue on as planned. There is much we would like to accomplish before our first furlough. The foundation is being laid for long-term ministry for our family in Nepal. Lord willing, the construction of Camp Refuge will be completed before we leave and will be used by churches and other missionaries during our furlough. Maghadi language learning and leadership training are also crucial before we return for furlough so that we may be ready for our second term here in Kathmandu.
