Attain Academic Success

September 24, 2012

The University Achievement Pathway at East Coast School of Languages is a rigorous program aimed at preparing English as a Second Language students for university.

The UAP program is designed for students who plan to attend university for an undergraduate or post-graduate program. The program is intensive and designed as solid preparation for university success. Students can start UAP in Level 200 allowing them plenty of time to develop and master the skills they need for university study. Students who successfully complete ECSL’s UAP Level 500 gain direct entry into one of ECSL's partner universities or colleges – no TOEFL or IELTS score required. ECSL partners with all universities and colleges in Nova Scotia, one in PEI, and one in Saskatchewan. Visit our website for the full listing of institutions. All of our partners provide Conditional Letters of Acceptance to both ECSL and the university.

One of our favorite places in Halifax

The Halifax Seaport Farmers Market is one of the most visited places in Halifax. It is a short walk from our school and every market day thousands of visitors come to purchase the best that this region has to offer in farm fresh produce, prepared foods, artisanal crafts, wines and garden plants. The market is next to the Port of Halifax which welcomes hundreds of cruise ships during the cruise season; this year we were visited by the Disney Magic Cruise for the first time. East Coast School of Languages is located very close to these places and students love to visit them to experience our Nova Scotia culture.

ECSL Students at the Waterfront

This summer the Tall Ships arrived in Halifax; ECSL students had the opportunity to enjoy a nice walk along the waterfront to admire them. Tall Ships Nova Scotia is the one of the biggest, most exciting events to hit our waterfront it is the perfect family event and showcases the best of Nova Scotia through music, food, film and history.
This summer has been amazing with perfect weather and a great mix of students from many nationalities at East Coast School of Languages.

BBQ Time!

In August after exams, we celebrated our students' hard work during the term with a BBQ at the Halifax Commons. Staff and students joined together to play soccer baseball and eat delicious food. We like to have these types of events where students keep learning English outside of the classrooms by socializing with classmates and teachers. Visit our Facebook fan page ( for more pictures.
