Green Lake Outer Loop

You’re receiving this email because you’ve expressed interest in receiving Green Lake Outer Loop project updates.
Soon, the community will have an entire loop along the outer edge of Green Lake, providing more travel options for people and creating better connections to surrounding neighborhoods.
Construction updates
We are halfway through construction! Thank you for your patience as we complete Green Lake Outer Loop! SDOT crews are actively working in the project area. We have reopened parking where we have already completed our work, and have no-park signs where we are planning to work next.

What we've done so far:
  • Installation of signs throughout the project area
  • Previous lane markings have been removed
  • Completion of new lane markings and flow of traffic
  • All streets are accessible in their permanent configuration
  • Tree trimming
  • Pavement repairs
What we're working on now and hope to have done by the end of the week, Friday, October 14:
  • Paving work on W Green Lake Dr N
  • Jersey barrier installation on Aurora Ave N
The images below show the installation of jersey barriers for the new protected bike lane on Aurora Ave N. Please do not use the bike lanes yet. This is still an active construction area.

What's next:
  • C-curb installation
  • Final signs and lane markings installation
  • Seattle Parks & Recreation is working on the Green Lake Small Crafts Center redevelopment. Please keep an eye out for inner loop reroutes to the Green Lake Outer Loop.
Schedules are always subject to change due to supply availability and inclement weather.
What do expect during construction:
Travelers can expect typical construction activities in the area such as:
  • Temporary lane and street closures for people driving
  • Temporary sidewalk and crossing closures and detours for people walking and rolling
  • Temporary bus stop relocations
  • Disruptions to on-street parking
  • Noise, dust, and vibrations during work hours
  • Construction staging and parking impacts near the work sites
  • Changes in construction schedule due to unforeseen circumstances (i.e., weather, soil conditions, etc.)
  • Temporary detour routes for people driving, walking, running, and biking
Check out what we are building!
We coordinated with the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), Seattle Parks and Recreation, and the community on this project. You can view the design plans here.

To be consistent with ADA accessibility standards, the Green Lake Outer Loop will be marked with our standard bike facility signs and markings. The Green Lake Outer Loop will be considered a pathway that bikes, scooters, roller blades, and other modes of active transportation will be allowed to use.
