Karen was a member of JAI for many years. Her work had been included in the Jerusalem Biennale and many of JAI's exhibitions. She was known for her installations using bells, her drawings and her work with the artist Dori Atlantis.
Dori, her longtime friend and collaborator, will guide us through the evening to honor the memory of Karen.
Karen Frimkess Wolff z"l
December 30, 1940 - February 29, 2020
Karen saw her work in the following way:
The ephemeral nature of particular lives set into the ground and framework of landscape has been a primary interest and theme of my drawings, constructions and installations. I take images and materials at face value and for their symbolic value.
Drawing is my way of thinking so I make drawings about everything that concerns me. In my installations I turn my drawings into interactive experiences. I am always looking at relationships between things and thoughts, inquiring into my veneration and awe of natural processes and phenomena. I want to notice carefully, to be grateful for beauty, to balance nature, artifice and my human contrivance.
