Outputs Prospectus update
We have just updated the Scotland's Census 2011 Outputs Prospectus. This document sets out the release plans for the further publication of results from Scotland's Census. It updates the version published in November 2012 with:
confirmation of the timing and content of Release 1B (section 1.8) - now scheduled for Thursday 21st March
table layouts of pre-defined Key and Quick Statistics that will be included in Release 2. You can access these from the 2011 Census page on the NRS website (link opens in new window).
a request for views on release 3 and 4 plans (section 1.1).
You can access the latest version of the Outputs Prospectus from the 2011 Census page on the NRS website (link opens in new window).
Outputs Dissemination System (ODS)
Work on the Outputs Dissemination System (ODS) – our online system for sharing census results - is progressing well. We previously asked for volunteers to help us test a prototype of the ODS. If you responded to previous requests, you may receive an email shortly inviting you to take part in user testing in early April. More detail about the ODS will follow in a subsequent newsletter.
The Beyond 2011 programme is an ongoing programme within National Records of Scotland (NRS) to research the best method for producing population and socio-demographic information in the future. The success of the programme will depend on NRS having a clear understanding of user requirements and priorities.
User requirements consultation
NRS are launching a formal consultation on 18th March 2013 to collect information on user requirements. This consultation aims to build upon previous consultations conducted by NRS and the recent stakeholder engagement sessions that users have been attending. The consultation will be available from 18 March on the Beyond 2011 web pages
Beyond 2011 Knowledge Hub
The new Beyond 2011 Knowledge Hub group has been set up as a method to communicate with our users over the future of population and socio-demographic information. It contains information on our publications and details of the above consultation. To find out more, visit the Beyond 2011 Knowledge Hub site.
NRS now has a Census Stakeholder Manager, Tom Wallace. Tom started at the beginning of the year and is developing plans for stakeholder engagement during 2013 as our release schedule gains momentum. As an early part of this, we are considering whether stakeholders would appreciate a further stakeholder session in April or May following the session held in Edinburgh during November 2012. If you would be interested in this, or have any other suggestions for future engagement activity, please email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Finally, we intend to publish newsletters more frequently as we approach releases 2, 3 & 4. Please get in touch if there are particular areas of interest that you would like an update on.
