Head to Heal with Naturopathic Medicine
Spring Quarterly 2016

A Splendid Spring to you!

Dandelions are preparing to bloom soon, and their blossoming yellow heads are a sign that our bodies are ready to lighten up digestively and move! Spring is such an exciting time of year when nature is replenishing, and regenerating and we can do the same – embrace the habits and foods that nourish us, and gently release the habits and foods which do not serve us, a subtle, yet long term effective way to do your body’s spring cleaning.

This spring Head to Heal Family Wellness Centre has much on the move. At the end of April, our RMT Crystal Schouten will be on maternity leave moving her away from Head to Heal for a little while to have her baby this spring. We will miss her while she is gone, and we are all very excited for her new little one to come earthside for her and her family to enjoy. Crystal will have an excellent massage therapist, Becky Nielsen to cover her patients while she is away and Becky will be taking new patients as well. Please see her bio below and call into our office to book a massage at 306.543.4325 or book online at www.reginanaturopathicdoctor.com.

Head to Heal Family Wellness is also excited to have Reiki master Sanae Okada teach a spring workshop on Jikiden Reiki from our wellness centre. The course will run May 14 & 15, 2016 – and it looks amazing, read more about it in her article below, and if you are interested in joining please do so through her website www.jikidenreikiseminars.com. This workshop is for anyone age 17 and older, and it is an accredited course for health practitioners – 15 credits of Remedial Massage Therapist Association (RMTA)-6.

National Naturopathic Medicine Week this year is May 9th to 14th, 2016 please stop by Head to Heal Family Wellness Centre on your way home on Wednesday May 11, 2016 for a naturopathic Cinq à sept (5:00 to 7:00pm) both of Head to Heal’s NDs, Dr. Jonathan Bablad and Dr. Vanessa DiCicco, will be on hand to host this health social, serving naturopathic cocktails and nibbles. At that same day and time we will also have an art opening for artist Becky Nielsen, yes she is a woman of many talents, at Head to Heal Family Wellness. Please drop in and nourish your eyes, bellies and spirit with us!

Other news for this coming May our hours will be slightly changing. As of May the Wholistic Dispensary will be open until 6:30 pm on Thursdays and our new hours for Saturday are 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. We also are very excited to have the Regina Beekeepers Society bee with us for the Cathedral Arts Festival on May 28th, 2016 we hope you will pop by for a visit.

From all of us at Head to Heal Family Wellness & Wholistic Dispensary – thank you for including us in your wellness!

Hello! My name is Becky Nielsen. I am a Registered Massage Therapist, artist and mother.

For the majority of my seven year career in massage I ran a solitary practice, so I must say that I am excited to join this dynamic team of health practitioners and have new inspiration.

My education in western remedial massage is the base of my practice, and since I have explored different therapeutic and holistic techniques so that my treatments are well-rounded and tailored to the client.

As a long time Cathedral resident and active member in the arts community, I am sure I will feel right at home. I will be displaying my art in the common area for May 1st, so keep your eyes peeled!

Looking forward to meeting you,
Becky Nielsen RMT

Jikiden Reiki – Health, Well-being, Balance

Learn the original form of Reiki from Japan. Everyone from health practitioners to everyday people can easily learn how to facilitate healing for themselves as well as for others. This authentic form of Reiki was recently introduced to North America in 2005 and is presented with credibility and clarity.

Jikiden Reiki is a pure and effective treatment that promotes healing by re-establishing the flow of ki (or energy) throughout the system. This in turn enhances the the body’s innate healing abilities. It addresses physical, mental and emotional conditions including headaches, pain, digestive disorders, anxiety and depression. It restores energy while one is ill, under medical treatment or in recovery.

Doo & you, 2 home tests to determine what type of eliminator you are

Have you ever wondered how many times a day you should have a bowel movement? Everyone should have at least one bowel movement daily but ideally one bowel movement per meal. Bowel movements should feel complete, not like you’ve got any stool left inside.

Our bowels are our most effective and efficient mode of transporting toxins made or processed in our body out of us. If stool sits too long in our bowels it becomes dehydrated and more difficult to pass and this can allow for toxins (cholesterol, hormones and other waste products) to be reabsorbed into our bloodstream, and it can cause gas by allowing the bacteria to ferment and putrefy the contents as well as contribute to a host of health issues.
