ESEN shortlisted for award
ESEN has been shortlisted in the Creative Marketing category at the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Awards for its Buy the Good Stuff and Social in the Square campaigns. The awards will take place at the Sheraton on the 2nd March.
Scotland's vision for social enterprise: 2025
A vision for social enterprise in 2025 has been developed by a number of Scottish social enterprise bodies and they are keen to get your feedback. Senscot is coordinating a feedback meeting for Social Enterprise Network (SEN) Chairs and Coordinators on the 5th March. If there is anything you would like us to feed back on your behalf, please let us know by the 4th March.
Work Shadowing request
ESEN has been approached by Napier University, which is looking for week-long placement opportunities for Psychology, Social Sciences and Criminology students from the 13th to 17th of April. Palcrafts / Hadeel open evening
Palcrafts / Hadeel is holding an open evening at The Melting Pot on the 4th March. Taysir Arbasi, Zaytoun Palestinian Director, and Mohammed Irsheid, an Palestinian olive and almond farmer, will speak about how Fairtrade supports their livelihoods and how the current situation is affecting their daily lives. All welcome.
Digital intern wanted
Balerno Village Trust is looking for a paid Digital Intern to help them plan and implement digital communications and refresh their web site.
Screening of Chasing Ice
The Himalayan Centre is screening Chasing Ice, a film about the impact of climate change, on the afternoon of the 28th February. The screening will take place at St James Church on John Place and will be followed by a light lunch and a discussion with Heather Anderson of Whitmuir Farm.
Last week, Out of the Blue launched Artcore, a two year programme aimed at getting young people involved in the arts across the city. The project, which is a collaboration between 13 organisations, will offer a range of creative opportunities for 13 - 25 year olds and give four young people the chance to work as paid Creative Apprentices.
Thunder and Lightning
Tickets are now on sale for Thunder and Lightning - the Irish Dance and Live Music Show, which is put on by Siamsoir in association with the Festival of Ireland. It takes place on Saturday 14th March.
Autism Initiatives up for award
Autism Initiatives' social enterprises have been shortlisted in the 'Outstanding Adult Services' category at this year's Autism Societies awards. Autism Initiatives runs a number of social enterprises in Edinburgh including The Gallery on the Corner, The Hermitage and the Cafe on the Corner.
Re-union Community Cruise and Networking Day
Re-union is inviting community groups and partners to join them aboard the Lochrin Belle for a cup of tea and a springtime trip along the Union Canal on the 18th March from 1.45pm to 4pm. Ready for Business event
Ready for Business would like to invite Edinburgh social enterprises to a stakeholder event it's running in the city on the 26th March. The event, which will include an update from Alex Neil MSP on the redesign of public services through Public Social Partnerships, will run from 1pm to 3.45pm at the Grosvenor Hilton hotel at Haymarket. Equalities and Rights Network - proposal sought
The City of Edinburgh Council has issued a call for proposals to run a new Equality and Rights Network covering Edinburgh, East Lothian and Midlothian.
