Mountain Week!

Prayer Request!!!

Two weeks to go and we will have completed our Orientation here at JAARS.  Monday morning, I (Joel) leave for the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina with the 5 other Orientees and the Training Staff.  We will be taking 5 airplanes and spending the next 10 days training on and off several mountain strips we set up a couple weeks ago.  The time will also include mountain flying, air drops, and rescue searches.  Please pray for the group during this time.  Specific requests are for weather conditions, safety of the flights and that the equipment stays trouble-free.  We have a great group of guys here and have been working very well together these last 3 months.

Please also pray for all the families as 10 days is a long time for all us Dad's to be away.  For our family and the other AIM AIR family, we will be leaving North Carolina right after we get back and the wives are having to handle a lot of last minute details of packing up and cleaning the apartment, deciding what gets shipped to Kenya, what goes on the plane and what goes back to storage.  This is a huge undertaking and they will need all the prayers they can get. 

 

The pictures are of two of the strips we well be using over the next 2 weeks.  The top one is plenty long at 1000' but has a 16% slope uphill.  This represents some of the runways overseas built on the sides of mountains or ridges.  The other picture, you can see about 300' of it then the rest drops off down hill. From the ground this runway doesn't look nearly as intimidating as being in the air, trying to find a specific, little, cleared out section amidst trees as far as the eye can see.

This has been a long journey of preparation.  But as we prepare to take all we have learned over the last year and a half and put it to use, we can start to imagine how God is going to use us and this training to reach His people in some of the most remote, hard to reach places.  He never said it was going to be easy, but He promises it will be worth it.  It takes a group effort to translate the Word of God and to share the love of Christ to the farthest reaches of the world.  Thank you for doing your part in the Great Commission and helping us do ours.  We could never do this alone.  All of you have had a part in making this happen.  Thank You!  We are looking forward to sharing the victories with you.
