SPOTLIGHT: Course Design/Redesign Institute â€“ May 21 & 22
Join U of T colleagues for 2 days of collaboration and design. Participants will leave this 2-day institute with a framework for a newly developed or redesigned course, including a course outline, assessment scheme and a sample lesson plan.
This Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) award celebrates, and brings to national attention, exemplary collaborative faculty projects in Canadian universities that deepen and extend student learning. Information about the 2014 Alan Blizzard Award is posted on the STLHE website, including a description of the award, the criteria, eligibility, and application procedure.
The completed application and supporting documentation should be submitted on or before Friday, March 14, 2014.

Science Leadership Program

The Science Leadership Program (SLP) aims to provide outstanding academic scientists with the skills, approaches and frameworks for engaging more effectively with the media, decision makers and the public throughout their careers.
Nominations for the Awards, which are now in their 6th year, will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 7th. Winners will be recognized at an awards ceremony in late March or early April. If you know of an individual or group worthy of distinction, you may nominate them at uoft.me/gra
Exciting news for online learning!
The Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation in conjunction with the Online Learning Strategies portfolio is working alongside five divisions across the University of Toronto on an exciting project entitled Active Learning: Online Redesign (ALOR). This initiative, supported by new funding from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU), aims to improve the quality of student learning through design of active learning experiences, while maximizing efficiencies through the use of web-based tools. SoTL Journal Club
CTSI recently launched a Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Journal Club for members of the U of T teaching and learning community. Each month, a new presenter will pre-select a peer-reviewed article and lead participants in a discussion â€“ learn more and visit the registration page.

CTSI is developing a resource document on how to best support faculty in their teaching at the University of Toronto. Our focus for this resource is teaching-specific faculty mentoring models and approaches. We are seeking input from faculty for this project.
