Eyeway has been a source of information on life with blindness to thousands of blind and visually impaired people across the country. We take pride in the fact that countless blind and visually impaired people have undergone rehabilitation and training, found jobs, got access to social security schemes, set up businesses, enrolled for higher education and so on.

32-year-old Arun Yadav from Chitrakoot district of Uttar Pradesh has been a regular caller of Eyeway. He first heard about Eyeway many years ago through our radio programme,’Eyeway Yeh Hai Roshni Ka Karwaan’.

Arun, like many other blind and visually impaired individuals, faced challenges growing up, owing to the lack of resources and awareness of blindness. Soon after enrolling into school, he lost his father in class 8, shattering his dream of higher education and securing a government job. At a young age he had to shoulder the responsibility of his family. He set up a small kirana store with the help of an organization supporting people with blindness and over the years relied on his disability pension to run the house.

Therefore, recently when Arun stopped receiving his disability pension, it became a matter of concern, as the income did not suffice to feed his wife, children and mother. He called Eyeway to share his challenge.

The counselor apprised him of the mandatory KYC process that the state government had imposed. Equipped with the right information, he updated his KYC details online but did not receive the one-time password on his number. Eyeway guided him to update his phone number with the present one by visiting the nearest Aadhar Seva Centre to complete the authentication process. Arun obliged and successfully managed to receive a disability pension.

In another instance, when Arun’s neighbor illegally captured his share of the property, Eyeway connected him to the State Legal Services Authority where he received legal help to claim his property back.

Like Arun, many other blind and visually impaired people rely on Eyeway for solutions to their challenges, making their life easier in the process.
