Just four years into her career as a fashion designer, Angela T. Bacskocky (B.F.A.’09/A) has followed a global path to fruition and notoriety. Arts: The surgeon as sculptor
“All right, let’s move.” The command breaks the silence, and the novice sculptors wheel their chest-high tripods counter-clockwise, circling the model posed on the stand. The instruction comes from Morgan Yacoe (B.F.A.’11/A), a 2011 graduate of the VCU School of the Arts’ nationally ranked sculpture program. Her students — plastic surgery residents from the VCU Medical Center — pause to absorb their new perspective on the model before turning again to their clay. Read more.
VCU Libraries: New building on fast track
Recently, the VCU Libraries community tangibly heard and felt our near future: The rat-a-tat-tat of jackhammers at dawn. A crew was exploring how the concrete aggregate panels are attached to Cabell Library in order to finalize construction specs for the new library on the Monroe Park Campus. Read more.
