Tim Ford (M.S.’02/AHP) joined VCU Massey Cancer Center’s Thomas Palliative Care Unit in 2006, becoming the nation’s first full-time palliative care chaplain. Ten years later, the VCU alumnus is returning to school at VCU. Campus Connection
National Give Kids a Smile Day, Feb. 3, brought big grins to VCU’s Pediatric Dentistry Clinic. The clinic, part of the School of Dentistry, provided free dental care and education for children who don’t have dental insurance or access to dental care. This year, 197 children participated in the daylong event, where volunteers provided $82,809 worth of care, including 114 fillings, 39 stainless steel crowns and 75 extractions. Organized annually by the American Dental Association during National Children’s Dental Health Month, Give Kids a Smile Day has served about 5.5 million children nationwide since its launch in 2003.
