Reunion Weekend 2016 is approaching fast! Classes ending in 1 and 6, St. Philip alumni and grand alumni are invited back to campus April 15-17. Enjoy your class-specific dinner and the MCV Campus Block Party along Clay
Street where you can listen to live music and enjoy lunch under the spring
blue sky. Join us April 16 in the Magnolia Room at the Omni Hotel for an MCV Alumni Association of VCU member appreciation reception.  If you plan to attend, register by April 8 to avoid the $25 registration fee.

SON excels at SNRS
The VCU and UVA Schools of Nursing hosted the Southern Nursing Research
Society 2016 Annual Conference Feb. 24-27 at the Colonial Williamsburg
Lodge in Williamsburg, Virginia. Several VCU faculty and students conducted poster and podium presentations to showcase the outstanding research and scholarship underway at our school. Three faculty were honored during the SNRS awards luncheon as follows: Kyungh An, Ph.D., RN, D. Jean Woods Nursing Scholarship; Suzanne Ameringer, Ph.D., RN, Mid-Career Researcher Award; and Patricia Kinser, Ph.D., RN (B.S.’03/N; M.S.’04/N; Cert.’04/N), STTI/SNRS Research Society Grant.

The school also held an alumni reception at the Williamsburg Lodge to connect with area alumni.

Join us for a career mapping lecture March 16

Alumni are invited to attend an upcoming event in the VCU School of Nursing 2016 Lecture Series. Pamela S. Hinds, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, director of the Department of Nursing Research and Quality Outcomes and co-director of the Center for Translational Science at Children’s National Health System, and professor of pediatrics at The George Washington University, will present “Legacy Mapping for Career Meaning” noon-2 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, in Room 1009 of Cabinass Hall. The career mapping lecture is funded by the School of Nursing Teaching Support and the Henry Nursing Faculty Support Endowments. SON student named a Jonas Scholar

Christina Wilson
Christina ​Wilson​, RN, WHNP-BC (M.S.’13/N)​, a Ph.D. student, ​was selected for ​the ​highly competitive Jonas Nurse Leader Scholars Program of the Jonas Center for Nursing and Veterans Healthcare. She is one of 425 doctoral students nationwide chosen for the 2016-2018 cohort.
The Jonas Scholar program's goal is to increase the number of doctorally prepared faculty​ ​available to teach in nursing schools nationwide and the number of nurse leaders providing direct​ ​patient care and filling roles as clinical faculty. Sponsored by the Jonas Center for Nursing and Veterans Healthcare (Jonas Center), the program​ ​provides​ ​financial assistance, leadership development and networking support to expand the pipeline of​ ​future nurse faculty and advanced practice nurses. Read more.
