Dear Friend,

It is with great sadness I share with you the news of the passing of Dr. Gregory A. Curt, Co-Chair of the CEO Roundtable on Cancer’s Life Sciences Consortium, and Senior Director, Medical and External Scientific Affairs, AstraZeneca.

An accomplished cancer researcher, Greg became LSC Chair in 2008. Upon his nomination as LSC Chair he immediately set forth to lead a collaborative effort linking the LSC and NCI to create “common clauses” to shorten the contracting process for cancer clinical trials. This effort led to the creation and promulgation of what would become the “START Clauses.”
From that successful effort in demonstrating the collaborative and innovative power of the LSC, Greg would go on to lead, in concert with Dr. Mace Rothenberg – who would later join Greg as co-chair of that group – the creation of Project Data Sphere, LLC, which today is demonstrating the catalytic power of sharing cancer clinical trial data to further research. In recognition of Greg’s leadership, he and Astra Zeneca were awarded “The Charlie” in 2014.

Please read Greg’s obituary from The Washington Post and join us in honoring not only the legacy of Greg’s work, which benefits cancer patients in countless ways, but in sharing our condolences with his family and loved ones who uniquely understood Greg’s warmth and kindness and how he similarly bettered the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

With only my choicest regards, I remain
