Special Event: Screenagers
Did you know:
  • Kids spend on average 6.5 hours a day on screens, not including classroom or homework screen time.
  • Boys spend on average the equivalent of 1.5 days on video games every week
  • Screen time increases dopamine production and causes behavior that mimics addiction
Beyond exposing the risks of screen time, SCREENAGERS reveals multiple approaches parents, teachers and other community leaders can use to work with kids to help them achieve a healthy amount of screen time, while still respecting its role in their lives, particularly their social lives.

Join us
here at IVA on Thursday, November 17 at 6:30pm to view the film. Advance tickets are $15 for parents and $10 for teens. Tickets will be $20 at the door if not sold out.

Broadway Musical at IVA! Are you interested?
A group of IVA parents are assessing student interest and parent support for an IVA Broadway musical revue that would audition in late January, rehearse two days a week after school starting in February, and have performances in early May. There would be a participation fee.

The program would be geared towards gaining confidence, building community, and growth in musical performance ability. In order to receive further information, please email Alicia Porter and express your student's level of interest (for example, "my child would definitely want to try out for this!") and level/type of parental support (for example, "I play piano!" or "I can run sound" or "I can make the programs" or "I can help raise money," etc.). Please respond by November 15.
