7th Grade Conferences // Feb. 6 & 7 - Sign Up Now
7th Grade Conferences will be held Mon & Tue, Feb 6 & 7. IVA will be on minimum days to provide time for the conferences. Conferences are focused on the students' connection to learning and require the student to attend! The student, their parent or guardian, and their teacher will each respond to the following three questions one at a time in the conference:
  • What intellectual virtue have you seen growth in - how does that show up in the class or learning?
  • What intellectual virtue can be a focus of continued growth - how would this show up in the class or learning?
  • What are other areas of interest or concern?
In response to feedback we received last year, we've segmented the conferences throughout the year to give 6th graders a conference early in the year, 7th graders after the fall report card, and 8th graders toward the end of the year as a transition conference to high school. IVA will be on minimum days (12:40 release) to allow time for conferences.

Each 7th grade student can sign up for ONE conference. To do so watch Serena Buie's screencast to know how to login to a new feature on our IVA website. This feature replaces the Sign Up Genius function we've used before. You will need to login as a parent on our website 7th grade sign ups are on a first come, first served order. Please call the office for support.

Mark your calendars for Friday, February 3rd 6:30-9:00 pm for the IVA Winter Dance!! A close-close friend of Ms. Campos named DJ Clau will be spinning all the latest tunes. We'll have a photo booth with props, snacks and drinks, and parent chaperones to keep the dance running smoothly. Our winter theme colors are blue and white. Students can choose to wear these colors (not mandatory) to show their love of winter and IVA!  We ask that students bring a re-fillable water bottle to support our green school.  Thank you to the Green Team for volunteering to help out with our refreshment table.

As a reminder, for students who have already paid their ASB fee, your dances are already paid for. For those students who have not paid the ASB fee, the dance will be $10 at the door.  For questions regarding this fee, please email Judy Hunter.  Please contact the Winter Dance Committee Chairs: Alice Killian or Anne Cheatham with dance questions. Introducing IVA's New History Teacher: Ms. Leeza Sindaha

This Friday's Faculty Academy is focused on the exploring a question together and aligning our understanding with the mission and vision of the school. Our big question is: "What role does grading play in the learning process?" Teachers will begin our training by taking time to read about and reflect on the virtue of intellectual thoroughness.
