It is a tendency in middle school to procrastinate and ask teachers for exceptions or extra credit. However, our firm assignment deadlines help students prepare for high school. Help your child finish out the semester well and prepare for high school by teaching them to prioritize.
Friday is the due date for all outstanding assignments from the semester.
We expect many students to attend office hours today and on Friday. If students are going to try to increase any of their grades from previous assignments in the semester then prioritize by:
- Determine on the Illuminate Gradebook which are the largest assignments with the greatest grade weight (Home Thinking assignments are not weighty in the Gradebook so you should focus on projects or performance assessments).
- Have your student bring that assignment or assignment title to office hours tomorrow or Friday.
In the last two weeks of the semester, classes are finalizing their performance tasks, which means there will be a big push to focus on final assignments. To do well students need to:
- Be present and participate in the discussion and class assignments - these all support the end of unit assignments.
- If you don't do well on an assignment in the last two weeks then go to office hours to redo that assignment.
The teachers are here to support our students in finishing the semester well!
