PTSA FITathon and Community Wellness Fair
The IVA PTSA Fit-a-thon will be our largest Fundraiser of the year. On Saturday, March 4th, 10:00 am at IVA. Participants will complete an inflatable obstacle course and learn about wellness through 17 vendors. This will be a fun community event….. Join us!!
Students can participate in a huge game of Infection (ask your student all about it) after the obstacle course. All IVA students that participate on Saturday will be entered into a raffle to win a huge Ghirardelli Chocolate gift basket worth $180.

We need all our IVA families to sign up on Pledgestar. Currently we have 37% participation and are up to $7,000 of our $20,000 goal. We can do this!! There are many prizes for the students. Our goal is $100 per students and each student can earn an IVA Fit-A-Thon shirt by sending out at least 10 valid emails (Mrs. Bryant said 5 by mistake so we will honor that, but you know you know 10 people, so go ahead and reach for 10) through Pledgestar. There are many more prizes and raffles for the students.

You may find the forms here.

Over the past 4 years, PTSA has funded projects to make every student's experience at IVA better. Some of the projects funded through the PTSA were lockers, blue benches, air conditioning, extra set of IPads, upgrading the FOXES corner where the students have lunch, colorful lunch benches with umbrellas, school beatification, and upgrades to the classrooms, in addition to every year providing funds for field trips, including buses and admission, teacher enrichment, dances, movies, treats at school,  end of year celebration, promotion, parent academy nights and much, much more.
We Need Volunteers
Parents - Please sign up to help the day of the event on SignUpGeniusContact Janet Watt if you have questions. A homework pass will be earned for your student if you volunteer.
IVA is a community….let's come together on Saturday and make this a huge success!

High School CHOICE Application Results and Intent to Enroll
The intent to enroll for the High School Choice application is due tonight, Wednesday, Mar. 1, at 11:59 pm. To complete your student's intent to enroll:

1- Log into your ParentVue account with the username and password you created, and click on the "School of Choice" tab.

2- Click "Intend to Enroll" on the one program you and your student wish to select for acceptance, and then click on the "Certify" button at the bottom of the screen to complete the process. If your student only received one acceptance, you must still register their intent to keep that seat. It is not automatic.

3- Confirm the page and print your confirmation of intention.

If the intent to enroll is not completed before the deadline, your student can lose their acceptance and seat at any particular program or school site.

Appeal forms are available for families on the HS Choice website (also in Spanish).

If you have any trouble logging into your ParentVue account, or have any questions regarding the High School Choice application, please contact the HS Choice Team.

Principal Update
We are looking for parents to join the PTSA Board for the 2017-18 school year. If you have interested, I would encourage you to speak with me or Susan Horejsi. Positions that are open are: President, Treasurer, Vice President of Fundraising and Vice President of Membership. Current nominations: Rebecca Irwin - President, Dana Stump - VP of Membership.

This next year I'm hoping to include a position for
Culture and Community so we can serve to recognize and celebrate the rich cultural diversity of our middle school community by finding out what special events, programs, and initiatives our community hopes to celebrate at IVA.

Thank you parents for finding ways to connect in these transition years. We know these aren't just years of transition for your kids but also for your relationship to school. We want to continue to reach out and include your feedback in how we operate. We have received 190 mid-year student survey results and next week we will be able to give you a summary of those results and request your feedback on the mid-year survey again. Until then, please consider filling a role on the PTSA board.

Thank you PTSA and our parents who create great events to raise funds for IVA Students. Without parents stepping into these PTSA roles, our students would miss out on so many exciting elements of middle school. This Saturday's Fit-A-Thon and Wellness Fair is completely led by our parent volunteers. Thank you so much for helping us make connections to our community through the health of our middle school students.
