Winter Family Read-A-Thon is On!!

What are you reading? What are your kids reading? Are you reading for distraction, comfort, thrill? We are excited about all your reading choices! And - we want to encourage you to use them to be a part of our fundraiser - the Family Winter Read-A-Thon. Help IVA fund our dream projects! Lockers on campus? Bench seating out on the blacktop? Get your family and friends to sponsor your reading and help us create a space to hold our books and to sit and read our books on campus (or eat lunch when we have 150 students!) Help us envision a not too distant future for our not too distant 7th graders!

Social Media & My Kids...OMG! Developing a Mindful and Meaningful Strategy for Your Family

Are you feeling overwhelmed by the new age of technology and social media? Are you wondering how to find the balance between restricting and embracing technology in this digital world that surrounds our kids? If so, come join Shaila Saint and Mollie Bennett of Canopy to learn how the principles of mindfulness can help you get some guidance and clarity for developing a digital game plan that works for your family!

Thursday, November 19th 7-8:30pm
Bring a journal or notepad & your wisdom to share!

Shaila Saint, M.Ed. is a former teacher, who has over 18 years in the early childhood and parent education fields. The goal of her Mindful Parenting philosophy, which forms the foundation of Canopy’s unique classes and workshops, is to create space and opportunities for families to connect, reflect and refuel. She co-founded Canopy, with her friend and fellow mama, Mollie Bennett, who is also a former teacher and facilitator, and has over a decade of experience managing projects, including high production corporate, educational, and private events.

Art by Mr. Ryan Callis
Art class? - Get a sketchbook!

IVA has a small budget for our elective class materials. Mr. Callis is asking that families purchase a quality sketchbook so that he can use those funds for drawing supplies. We are requesting that if you are able you - purchase a 9x12 thick sketchbook for weekly homework assignments of outside observational drawings.

You can purchase a sketchbook from the Art Supply Warehouse in Westminster, Barnes and Nobles and Aaron Brothers. If you are able to find a close substitute, that works!! Please let Principal Bryant know if you are not able to purchase a sketchbook.
