This Sunday we begin a new sermon series in the letter to the Hebrews entitled “Anchored”. The book of Hebrews is a warning to be very careful to not drift away from Jesus.

In our current situation, when so much of our regular life has been unmoored, it is just that bit easier to drift away. Our lives are shaped by our routines and our environment.
Regularly meeting together has a powerful impact on us as followers of Jesus. In these extraordinary circumstances, when we cannot meet together, we need to be just a bit more careful in every area of our lives.

Whether it be working from home, learning from home, or following Jesus, I believe that the book of Hebrews contains an important message for us at this time. I hope you can join us at for our 8:30, 10:30 or 6:00 services as we seek to remain anchored to Jesus.

GBC Updates

Please click on the video image below for this week's update from Marc Rader.

Make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel to be notified of all GBC updates.

And this Sunday, during GBC Online, join the chats and say "Hi". It's so encouraging for all of us to see who's "in the room" as we participate in the service together.

GBC Online On Your Phone
In an attempt to include those who do not have access to GBC Online in our services we have a new phone-in option.

People can call 02 5925 4015 from 8:30am on Sundays and listen to most of our service. They won’t hear the worship due to licensing restrictions and the recording will be of what is happening on-screen so there may be a few things that sound strange without the visuals. It is a poor substitute for meeting together face-to-face, but hopefully, it’s better than nothing.

If you know someone who does not have access to our services (or any on-line service) please take down this number and give them a call to let them know that this option is now available in our 8:30am Service.
Kid's Activity Sheets
We love for our kids to participate during the service at GBC Online. Each week in the Notes section we provide an activity sheet to download and print.

Roxane, our Children's Ministry Coodinator, also emails them out. If you'd like to be included in this email list to receive the activity sheet please contact Roxane by email
GBC Prayer
Join us for Prayer at our Gymea Baptist Church Facebook page "live" this Tuesday at 8:00pm AEST. This is a great opportunity to join together to be led in prayer and reflection as we navigate these uncharted waters.
Congregational Care

While we may be limited in the more practical aspects of caring for one another in these times of physical distancing, we can be Big-Hearted and Others-Focused in how we care for each other's spiritual and emotional health. Our Elders and GBC Cares (Care Callers) teams are making calls to people and praying for people's prayer requests and Hopefield is open for counselling and other services that might be required.

As discussed in last week's eNews, LifeGroup leaders will be contacting everyone in their LifeGroup to check in with you and explain the new infrastructure of Connect Groups as mentioned by Marc in this week's GBC Update (see video above).

If you need support from any of these teams please call or email us:

Join the Care Callers Team

We are looking for people who would like to join the Care Callers team as part of GBC's Congregational Care during our current COVID-19 isolation. We are looking for people who are comfortable making phone calls to touch base with members of our congregation. If you are interested please send an expression of interest to Sheena Hind, our GBC Cares Coordinator, by email

And Sheena will be in touch.
