Last weekend we held our CLT retreat to consider our goals for 2020. Thanks for all who committed that time to prayer. While there is still more work to do before we make the goals public, we had a very fruitful discussion and I came away feeling very encouraged and already looking forward to 2020. There is, however, a lot still to do in 2019.

One such “project” is to return to the call to prayer that I issued at our mid-year meeting in July. I have been really encouraged by the number of people who have told me that they have been faithfully praying that the Holy Spirit would usher in an expansion of the restoring work of God in our lives and in our community, that God would make clear to each of us where he is inviting us to join him, and that we would discern what needs to be done to be ready for whatever is next. Thank you if you have been praying  this way – and if you have only just heard of this you can join in here.

I am currently praying about and planning a sermon series in October-November that will focus us on these same issues. I’d appreciate your prayers for that series too (along with so many other things!) that it would be the right word at the right time for us and that the Spirit would guide us in all.

I look forward to seeing what God will do in the remainder of this year and into next in answer to our prayers and in line with his purposes and promises in Christ.

Announcements and Upcoming Events

Global Leadership Summit

We will be hosting the GLS on the evening of Friday October 11 and all-day Saturday October 12. The cost to those who are part of GBC is $99 ($40 for Students) and this is money well spent. You’ll start hearing more about this soon, but can I encourage you to make this a priority. This year’s list of speakers includes Craig Groeschel, Bear Grylls, Jo Saxton, Danielle Strickland, Patrick Lencioni, and others. It is a brilliant shot in the arm for your leadership and is not confined to leading in church. The principles shared are applicable wherever you lead whether that is a business, school, or other organisation. You can find more information about the GLS Below.

Pathways - Register Now

Pathways is a four-week course which will be held at 10:30am (one hour) over four consecutive Sundays (20 October - 10 November) to help those who are new to GBC find their place in God's mission here.

Pathways explores: Who we are; Where we believe God is leading us; What we are doing to get there; and How you can get involved. It's a space for you to ask questions, meet others who are new to our community of faith, and begin to form some lasting friendships. Pathways will take place during our 10:30am Service so if you're coming in the morning with young children, they'll have the opportunity to enjoy our Kidzone program while you attend.

To register for the next Pathways four-week course (20/10, 27/10, 3/11, 10/11) go to GBC Links or email Karen Watkins.

We’ll be holding a special dedication service at 10:30am on Sunday 20th October. If you’re keen to intentionally commit to raising your child to make their own decision to follow Jesus later in life, we’d love to celebrate that occasion with you. For more information and to register your interest in being involved in this service, please contact our Associate Pastor for Connect and Services,
