MESSAGE FROM THE SENIOR PASTOR

As the calendar ticks over to September we turn our attention as a church to the work of Hopefield (the new name for Southern Community Welfare). Over the month of September (apart from Father’s Day) we will be hearing about the exciting opportunities that God has been opening up for Hopefield and how we can participate.

As we have over the last couple of years, we will be seeking to raise funds for a particular project (which you’ll hear more about in the weeks to come) and I’d ask you to begin to pray about what you might contribute over and above your regular giving.

The work of Hopefield is a vital service in our community and another way in which we can seek to participate with what God is doing in our community. Not only will we hear some reports and updates in our services, but the next Partnership Newsletter is a Special Edition dedicated to the work of Hopefield.

I’m really looking forward to sharing with you all that God has been doing and the ways in which we can participate with him through the services of Hopefield.

I hope to see you Sunday and a Happy Father’s Day to all you dads out there!

Marc Rader

Announcements and Upcoming Events

Global Leadership Summit

We will be hosting the GLS on the evening of Friday October 11 and all-day Saturday October 12. The cost to those who are part of GBC is $99 and this is money well spent. You’ll start hearing more about this soon, but can I encourage you to make this a priority. This year’s list of speakers includes Craig Groeschel, Bear Grylls, Jo Saxton, Danielle Strickland, Patrick Lencioni, and others. It is a brilliant shot in the arm for your leadership and is not confined to leading in church. The principles shared are applicable wherever you lead whether that is a business, school, or other organisation. You can find more information about the GLS Below.

Kids Hope - Celebrating 10 years at GBC!

Our Kids Hope mentoring program is celebrating 10 years of service in our community! We partner with Kareela and Grays Point Primary Schools and currently have 13 mentors who stand alongside vulnerable kids in these schools. Another 24 mentors have  participated in Kids Hope over the last 10 years.

The Kids Hope model of 1 mentor meeting with 1 child for 1 hour per week has been well received by parents, teachers and staff at our partner schools, with the kids showing much improvement socially, emotionally and academically. It’s been a great opportunity to be involved in our community showing our love and support for these vulnerable kids.

A huge thank you to all our mentors, coordinators and prayer partners who have participated in Kids Hope during the last 10 years. Your commitment and care for these children has been such a blessing.
