The work of the kingdom is work that we must all be involved in. This statement is based both on the theological conviction that our involvement is part and parcel of our decision to follow Jesus, but also on the observation that there is so much work to be done. Our participation in God’s plan is empowered by the Spirit (who provides the heavy lifting of the promised transformation) but our participation is – mysteriously – essential.

As the apostle Paul said in Romans 10:14, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” We are essentially involved in the declaration of the good news (which is much broader than preaching during a Sunday service).

It is this belief – that we are all involved – that underlines our purpose: to help people find their place in God’s mission wherever that may be. All of which brings me to Pathways, our four week course that aims to help people understand who we are as a community of faith and to find their place in God’s mission here. This is aimed primarily at those who are “new” here and our next course begins October 20. It is free, but registration is essential, and runs during our 10:30 service.

This allows people to come to church as they usually would, drop their kids off at Kidzone if they have children, and attend without needing a baby-sitter or with another night out. If you know someone who is new here, can I encourage you to encourage them to register for Pathways.  And as a matter of course, whenever you meet people who are new here, ask them if they’ve done Pathways yet.

And the reason this is important is not because we want lots of people to do Pathways but because of the overwhelming importance that all of us are invited to participate with God and the sooner we find our place in that mission the sooner we can get at it.

Pathways - Register Now

Pathways is a four-week course which will be held at 10:30am (one hour) over four consecutive Sundays (20 October - 10 November) to help those who are new to GBC find their place in God's mission here.

Pathways explores: Who we are; Where we believe God is leading us; What we are doing to get there; and How you can get involved. It's a space for you to ask questions, meet others who are new to our community of faith, and begin to form some lasting friendships. Pathways will take place during our 10:30am Service so if you're coming in the morning with young children, they'll have the opportunity to enjoy our Kidzone program while you attend.

To register for the next Pathways four-week course (20/10, 27/10, 3/11, 10/11) go to GBC Links or email Karen Watkins.

We’ll be holding a special dedication service at 10:30am on Sunday 20th October. If you’re keen to intentionally commit to raising your child to make their own decision to follow Jesus later in life, we’d love to celebrate that occasion with you. For more information and to register your interest in being involved in this service, please contact our Associate Pastor for Connect and Services,

Invitation to Pray - GBC Cares

We’d like to invite anyone who is interested to join us in praying for our church this Sunday around 10am (in-between the 2 morning services). Some of the GBC Cares team have started this initiative and we’d like to extend it to anyone else who is keen to pray too. We will meet in the main downstairs office on the blue lounges. We will continue to meet at the same time on the first Sunday of each month and hopefully we will outgrow the office space.
Hope you see you there!
