MESSAGE FROM THE SENIOR PASTOR

As we draw near to the end of August and the five-month mark of not meeting together face-to-face I am growing in my resolve to take advantage of this opportunity. I believe that God is still at work and that we are no less the church now than we were in early March. There are challenges, certainly, but these are not insurmountable, especially for the Spirit empowered community participating with God’s plans and purposes!
As a leadership we are in the process of finalising our next steps and I look forward to sharing these with you next week. I believe that we will emerge from these restrictions (whenever that might be) stronger as a community of faith, more focused on our mission, more aware of the Spirit’s invitation, and more appreciative of one another.

Please continue to pray for our community of faith and ask the Spirit to bring to mind a name or two who you can touch base with and encourage as we move forward. The plans of God are not in a holding pattern and neither should we be!

Be encouraged and do not fear, God is at work!

Playtime

YAY! PLAYTIME IS BACK, BABY!!

Playtime has returned this week to face-to-face meeting in our new Covid Safe format (Monday-Friday 10:00am - 11:30am).

Last week Meddwyn sent all existing Playtime families an information email with our COVID Safe plan attached - you can read Playtime's COVID Safe Plan by clicking here.

Please note: Spaces are limited to 18 people (adults & children) per session and registration is essential for every session each week. The link to book for the following week will be emailed to all existing families every Friday.

If you are an existing Playtime family and you did not receive that email please contact our Playtime Coordinator, Meddwyn via email.

Any questions; or if you're interested in joining Playtime for the first time; or perhaps you feel God is nudging you to assist or lead, please contact Meddwyn by email or phone GBC office on 9521 4611.

LifeGroups

We are encouraging people to create connection, discipleship and care by getting involved in a LifeGroup and to make it a #1 priority to attend each week.

Check out the LifeGroups tab in GBC Links. There you can:
1) See a list of all the LifeGroups (leaders, photos and times they meet);
2) Fill out an Expression of Interest form (if you want to join a LifeGroup);
3) Download the LifeGroup Study Notes and Questions.

If you are NOT in a LifeGroup - what are you waiting for? Log into GBCLinks, take a look at the Group List and click on the Expression of Interest link above to let us know what times during the week you'd be able to attend a LifeGroup. Any questions please contact GBC's LifeGroup Coordinator - Brett Robinson via email.

We need more LifeGroup Leaders! If you feel God is asking "Are You Available" to step into the space of leading a LifeGroup - please email Brett Robinson or Mark Coleman.

GBC Safe Church

As Marc mentioned in this week's Friday Update (see video above) we are asking all our GBC Volunteers to participate in the eligibility process of Safe Churches by completing a short screening questionnaire.

To those who've submitted their questionnaires - THANK YOU for being "Others-Focused" and "Trustworthy" - filling your form out now allows us to process it so all our volunteers are Safe Church ready when we return to face-to-face meetings.

If you have not yet completed the questionnaire, please take 5-10 minutes this weekend to rest on your lounge with a tea/coffee and fill in the questionnaire. Click on the link below for your age group. You can also access it anytime on the GBC Links home page.

If you're 18 and over - click the link to the over 18 questionnaire

For those who are not yet 18 - click here for the under-18 questionnaire.

Any questions please contact the GBC Serve Team via email.

The Big Three
If you haven't yet joined us for The Big Three, we encourage you to subscribe and download the weekly podcast "GBC Big Three".

This week join Marc Rader and co-hosts Jess Baker and Amaris Rader for a fun and thought-provoking conversation as they discuss the three big questions submitted and upvoted by you (our congregation) via Slido during Sunday's sermon at GBC Online. It's a deep dive into last week's sermon; a great opportunity to consider what God is saying to us right now and how we can apply that teaching so our lives are changed by Jesus.

Listen to Podcast Ep. 27 The Church Reimagined: We Celebrate What Matters ... (But What Really Matters?) - the Big Three Questions this week:
  1. What would celebration for the lost look like for us and how would our lives look different because of it?
  2. If what matters is people being found by God and having their lives changed, then how can we keep this as a focus in our diverse ministry passions?
  3. Why does it appear that a follower who has wandered away and returned is more celebrated than someone who had remained faithful?
Watch all past The Big Three conversations at GBC's Youtube channel.
