This week we conclude our series entitled Refresh which has been exploring the essential commitments of our vision and purpose as a community of faith: a commitment to the good news, a commitment to personal transformation as we follow Jesus, and a commitment to living out our identity as those who are sent by Jesus into the world.

Our commitment to these things lies at the heart of the new season that we are praying God will usher in. On Sunday I want to challenge us about one thing that we need to do in preparation for what God might do in our midst. As a leadership we have been doing the hard work of discerning where God is leading us and the sorts of things we need to be engaged in in 2020.

There is, however, one thing that we need to do. I’m not going to ruin the surprise so you’ll have to come along or listen to the podcast. I will give you two clues: the experience of standing on an exercise ball and Peter’s experience in Acts 10. Admittedly, these are not very helpful clues, but I am confident that it will all make sense on Sunday.

I hope to see you then.

A Big Thank You from the Catalyst Team

The Catalyst team thanks everyone who assisted in making the Fair Trade Market a success. Some worked all day, some for short spells, some cooked cakes, others supported by being there. Together the message of  generosity, equality, love and justice was displayed in full.

If you ‘adopted’ a sign would you please return it to church with your name on the back.

Giving Tree

Many of the clients at Hopefield do not have the means to celebrate Christmas like most of us are able. The Giving Tree is an opportunity for the GBC Church family to purchase hampers and gifts for these clients which will be distributed the week before Christmas. The Staff of Hopefield identify the clients so we are able to personalise the gifts to best meet individual needs. Any amount of donation is valued and welcomed and all donations are tax deductible.

The Giving Tree will located in the foyer after the services from the 10th November - 1st December where you can purchase a gift to hang on the tree.

Hidden Christmas - by Tim Keller, Even people who are not practicing Christians think they are familiar with the story of the nativity. Every Christmas, displays of Baby Jesus resting in a manger decorate lawns & churchyards, songs about shepherds & angels fill the air. Yet despite the abundance of these Christian references in popular culture, how many of us have examined the hard edges of this biblical story?

Jesus the Game Changer Season Two is also available in the Bookshopat less than Recommended Retail Price, @ $40 for the JGC-2 DVD, $8.00 for the Discussion Guide and $10.00 for The Stuff of Life or $58.00 for the set.
