The dust has settled on May Mission Month for 2020 and I just want to say how proud I was of our community of faith. Even though we had fewer donors than years past (one of three things we keep track of along with the overall total and how our regular offerings are affected) the fact that we surpassed the target was really encouraging.
The uncertainty brought about by COVID-19 (and it’s far from over) made this year’s target of $190,000 feel particularly big. It was also, however, an opportunity for us to lean into faith and be Big-Hearted and Others-Focused (two of our newly adopted values). The Big-Hearted part is easy to identify, but it is equally important to recognize that this response of faith was putting the needs of others around the world ahead of our own.

And all of this is part of our invitation to participate with what God is doing in the world to renew and restore all things. The many families in Lebanon who will have their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs met. The countless Indigenous people who will be able to read the Word of God in their heart language and respond to the gospel. The young women in Cambodia who will have loving support during difficult pregnancies. The many people around the world who are impacted by the work of our sent missionaries. All facilitated by our having said “Yes” to God’s invitation to financially support these projects.

Thank you for giving, but thank you for the encouragement that it is to see people live out “Yes” to God!
