Wonderful heather-clad ridges with great panoramic views; pretty chestnut forests; beautiful rivers where it's possible to bathe; and sun parched, olive and vine covered slopes.
"I really loved walking along the ridges with views of the valleys and peaks in dappled light. The green and yellow fauna was also really stunning." M. Ma, UK

Walking in the Auvergne
"From the Christmas pudding-shaped domes of the volcanic Châine des Puys (also known as the Monts Dômes) to the high steep ridges of the Cantal supervolcano, the Auvergne has hills to suit every hiker. The Auvergne’s charming historic villages, castles and churches are interspersed with picturesque hamlets, pastoral valleys and lofty cattle pastures. Unspoilt volcanic lakes nestle within pine forests and languid rivers trace their sinuous courses through beech copses."
