Meet Our Summer Interns:

This Summer we are joined by two LA County natives: Kellen Aguilar, who just graduated from Whittier College with a double major in English and History, and Kamari Carter, a Music Technology major at CalArts going into his senior year this Fall.

We are now in week 6 of our 10 weeks together, and it has been such a joy to have them on our team! Special thanks to the Los Angeles County Arts Commission for providing this terrific program!

"I am very grateful to the LA County Arts Commission for this internship opportunity! Being a member of the American Youth Symphony team has been a professionally and personally rewarding experience." - Kellen Aguilar

"AYS as an organization takes great pride in their work. It is wonderful to have worked alongside a team of such integrity, and it was an absolute pleasure meeting all of the others that were a part of the program. I'm honored to be a part of such an amazing program; and I can not wait to see what AYS does in the future." - Kamari Carter

Audition Application is Available Now!

The American Youth Symphony is dedicated to the artistic development of a new generation of musicians. Our competitive Fellowship program provides a per-concert stipend and tuition-free training, focused on the study and performance of the canon of classical masterworks, as well as cutting-edge new music and legendary film scores. During their time with AYS, fellows enhance their musical growth, experiment, study, engage with their community, work with top guest artists and composers, develop crucial leadership skills, and perform sold-out concerts in the most prestigious venues in Los Angeles.

The program is open to all experienced orchestral musicians ages 15-27. Blind auditions ensure that acceptance is based purely on merit; and, as part of our long standing commitment to eliminating all financial barriers for our students, there will never be any fee to audition.

The following positions are open, however, we welcome players from all sections at our annual auditions:

Concertmaster  /  Assoc. Concertmaster  /  Asst. Concertmaster  /
1st and 2nd Violin Section  /  Asst. Principal Viola  /  Viola Section  /
