Celebrating Caregiver
Appreciation Month

May is National Foster Care Month. In Humboldt County, we refer to National Foster Care Month as “Caregiver Appreciation Month.” We make this distinction because the term “caregiver” is inclusive of our foster parents, relative and Non-Related Extended Family Members (NREFM’s) and tribally-specified care providers. Caregivers play an important role in family reunification. All caregivers provide a safe and stable home for children and youth who have been removed from their own families as a result of abuse or neglect.

What do you think about the proposed reentry center?

The County of Humboldt is looking for ways to help offenders access services that will benefit them during life after jail. To accomplish this, the County wants to build a facility that connects to the jail and offers services dealing with mental health, drug counseling, employment assistance and life training, in one centralized, easily accessed location.
