Palliative care resources - 5 languages
Some excellent new palliative care resources for patients, their whanau or carers have been created. While developed by Palliative Outcomes Initiative, (an Auckland wide approach to primary palliative care project), they are useful for anyone and all regions.
Resources available in multiple languages
Like many countries now, New Zealand has many different ethnicities and languages spoken. Health Navigator has a wide range of plain language and easy to read resources in multiple languages from a range of trusted NZ and international sources.
New app reviews are being added to the Health App library on a regular basis. Recent additions include:
Kidney disease apps The use of mobile apps can support people with kidney disease to better manage their health by helping them to keep track of their medication and indicators such as blood pressure, weight, daily fluid intake and symptoms. Health Navigator have reviewed three apps and included 'a help me chose' section to help people review other kidney disease apps.
Graded motor imagery apps Graded motor imagery is the process of training and re-training the brain and its many connections, and in this way can treat chronic pain. Health Navigator have reviewed two apps.
Search functionality added to Health App Library
A search function has been added to the Health App library so that users can search by category (such as asthma), use filters or sort for apps by category, price, device, New Zealand app and clinical score.
How Health Navigator can help you Studies show learning is enhanced when patients are given quality written or online information to support their retention and understanding following a consultation or admission. The Health Navigator NZ website is designed to make this easy for your clinical teams to give patients and clients relevant NZ information and self-care resources.
You can print out topic sheets, or jot down other topic suggestions on our wallet cards for patients to review at home. We also have posters and recently updated DLE rack cards that are ideal for outpatient waiting rooms. Order form
Reminder: This clinical update is to give DHBs, PHOs and other key health groups an overview of what's happening in the Long-Term Conditions and Health Navigator space.
