In this month’s health sector news we have information about health literacy month, a new te ao Māori framework and the IMAC COVID-19 immunisation clinical toolkit. Also included are resources relevant for the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

In Health Navigator NZ updates, we're excited to announce that we are a finalist in the Plain Language Awards. We also have news of brochures that support safer use of osteoporosis medicines, a list 
of new topics on our website and two apps to help people living with food allergies or intolerances.

The Health Quality & Safety Commission has developed a te ao Māori framework in partnership with Māori health providers, Whānau Ora providers and participating district health boards across Aotearoa New Zealand. Read more
IMAC COVID-19 clinical immunisation toolkit
This toolkit has been created in recognition that changes to clinical guidance for COVID-19 vaccination happen regularly as the programme evolves, increasing the need to ensure frontline clinical staff have the correct information at hand to provide efficient and safe immunisation. A new version of the toolkit will be published every month.

We're excited to announce that Health Navigator NZ is a finalist in the Plain English Awards 2021, for our type 2 diabetes empagliflozin medicine fact sheet.
Brochures to support safer use of osteoporosis medicines 
Health Navigator NZ has created two new brochures that provide easy to understand information about the medicines alendronate (available in English and Traditional Chinese) and risedronate (available in English).  These can be viewed under Resources in the side bar of each page.

Studies show learning is enhanced when whānau are given quality written or online information to support their retention and understanding following a consultation or hospital admission. The Health Navigator NZ website is designed to make it easy for your clinical teams to give people relevant New Zealand information and self-care resources. 

You can print out topic sheets, share pages via email and social media or jot down topic suggestions on our wallet cards for whānau to look up online at home. We also have posters and rack cards that are ideal for waiting rooms. Order here
