A CELEBRATION OF DIVINE MERCY AND THE GRACE OF HOLINESS

Today was the big celebration here in Rome of the Canonization of two great and holy men who also happened to serve the Church humbly as Vicars of Christ: Saint John XXIII and Saint John Paul II.

Fellow Brothers helped both Br. Richard and I get into the celebration in a section near the altar for Priests and Religious.

One of the other brothers and I left the house early to walk to the Vatican and avoid crowds on the subway. We left the house at 4:00 AM and arrived at the Vatican at 5:15 AM. No one was allowed into the Plaza of St. Peter until 5:30 AM. When we arrived there were already crowds waiting to get in.

As Religious we had a “blue” ticket and were called first. If you watched the celebration on TV, we were in the section that looked white up near the front. That was because most of the Clerics were wearing Albs or Surplices. We simply wore our Capuchin Habits.
