Our recent milestones:

• 3,000 people of all ages and backgrounds have created with us at the Art Cart in the last year! Through community outreach, we have been weaving groups together at various events, facilitating connection through original self-expression. On December 19th, we celebrated this joy and color-filled year!

• We hosted 6 graduate students from the School of Visual Arts (NYC) for an intensive credit course in Multicultural Issues in Art Therapy in August. The students learned traditional art forms from local women while processing issues of hierarchy, race, and privilege. Our culminating exhibition of mandalas, henna, embroidery and kolam traveled to NYC to presented there in October, as part of a developing bridge between NYC and Auroville through art therapy.

• Sankalpa founder and art therapist, Krupa Jhaveri, traveled to Hong Kong and the US for a month of presentations, workshops and exhibitions (more below).

• We are organizing an Expressive Arts Therapies Symposium in Auroville on February 19-21, 2016 in collaboration with Prasad Family Foundation. This unique experiential-based gathering will be for select participants, including a panel, workshops and community art exchange. Details on flyerinvite and please apply to join us here.

the quicker we will be able to treat life as art.”

Art Center progress: Termites and extreme weather damage (winds and rains) have challenged and delayed our dream. With patience and perseverance, we studied how to adapt to the climate with a simple secondary roof structure, which is to be erected by the end of this year. We are now using all of the crowdfunding campaign donations to finally complete this space!

A very special thank you to all who participated in workshops, presentations and exhibitions during my travels in Hong Kong and the US this October!

I was inspired by the curiosity of so many individuals, grateful to collaborate and share with so many through a sponsorship to attend the
International Expressive Arts Therapies Association Conference in Hong Kong, and to offer a workshop on Ritual & Art Therapy at Hong Kong Institute of Counseling Professionals.

In NYC, I presented on gender issues in art therapy at the
School of Visual Arts, and was fortunate to help bring our India exhibition to another continent. It was touching to experience another layer of outreach in the ripple effect of our work.

It was an honor to be invited to assist in an
Art & Yoga Teacher Training at Kripalu in western Massachusetts. Integrating traditional Indian artforms with Kundalini Yoga and collaborating with Hari Kirin Khalsa was a true gift and inspiration.

In the last year I have learned so much about the universality of mandala-making and use of natural materials, all in co-creation with people from around the world. I feel so blessed to be living my own creative dream each day, surrounded by so much color and love! Wishing everyone a joyous holiday season and new year!
